Dave Holland: Emerald Tears; Guts?

    Just got the Cd of it...used to have it on tape LOL.
    Anyway, anyone think he's using gut strings on the G and D strings?
    Sounds like Spiros on the A and E....G for sure sounds different...but I've never know Dave to use anything but Spiro's....

    It is too clear for guts, I think he was using steel strings. I just listened to it last week! Great album.

    Odd sound on the G though no?
    I'm not sure....maybe the recording process?
    Compare back to back with "Ones All"...G and D WAY livelier and ringing on OA......
    When I used to play guts with lower action, it was a similar sound to ET....

    Yeah, it is boomy, I think it is just the way it is recorded.
