Cracking into a live experience tonight in Nashville with another one of my late TB mid-life discoveries: The Jesus Lizard.

In terms of “gnarly” as a category of bass tone, I think David Wm. Sims and JJ Burnel top my list. Has anyone else seen them recently?

I’ve got to get in better shape if I do another show like that again.

It was a killer show. I was exhausted just in my observational posture. Long first set and two long encores. Yow is an amazing frontman. Lots and LOTS of stage diving, crowd surfing, trusting complete strangers with his well-being, mic slinging, incoherent bravado...he’s Bill Maher meets Iggy Pop. Sims stands at the edge of the stage above a wedge with a crazy stare. The house mix didn’t do the greatest service to his sound through the big stuff, but we were close enough to hear his stack cut through off the stage. Mac and Duane were much easier to hear and sounded excellent.

I got every cent of my money’s worth from that. They’ll be in Philly 12/30, and NYC on NYE.

    Great stuff :)

hope you enjoyed yourself. One of my long term favourite bands and it’s a minor life goal of mine to catch them live!

Is that a GK 800rb on top of the stack? I love mine.
