This is a pretty little effect used by former bassist of Incubus, Dirk Lance. He had it in his massive rig, along with a SansAmp PSA-1, Big Muff Pi, Boss Super Phaser, MXR Phase 90, a Demeter Tube compressor, and enough Eden equipment to make a grown man cry.

I was just wondering if anyone could fill me in on what exactly it is that the dbx unit did. Up to now, I'm led to believe that he just used it as a fancy, really expensive, octave pedal. Any more info on this available? Anyone have experience with one of these? I'm just trying to educate myself on it! Thank you very much in advance.

Do a search, it's been discussed several times.

It generates a signal 1 or 2 octaves below your note, but only over a limited frequency range.

I didn't like how it would stop at the top of it's range. I've got a Furman Punch 10 now that I like better.
