im in the search of a good compressor, and was wondering about these two.

the pros of the APHEX is that i can take it anywere, no matter the gig..... and they told me it doesnt color the sound.

the pros of the dbx is that i can have more control on what im doing..... also its stereo, has gate, and i can use it to records vocals or drums in my home studio.

also the dbx is more expensive, and my main purpose is using it with bass.....

any tip or experience with this units are welcome
  2. I have the 266xl. For me it works very nice, I don't really have to add much to get just enough compression for me. I put mine in my rackmount and take it everywhere my amp goes. The gate works fine as well. I would recomend it, but there are always better for more $$$.

    i own a SWR/yamaha rig, and playing with a 77 jazz bas or a warwick fortress 1.

this compressor i want i want it just to reduce dynamis so i can use the more power pssible out my rig, or the rig ill be using in case i gig withput mine (that will be a comon situation). So i want it not to color the sound.
