Dead Low Tide/kramer 8strings

  1. Just saw Dead Low Tide last night and they really impressed me. They're ex-members of Murder City Devils and GodHeadSilo. The Bassist used a couple of old Kramer Aluminum-neck 8string's with old distortion boxes and a pick.
They made a really nice, thick bass and midrange tone that on the recordings made me believe he had been playing chords fingerstyle on a regular four string. Very warm with plenty of fuzz from those old distortions.
I've wanted an 8 string for a while, but never as much as I do now!
Very good show, but alas, no setting the cymbols on fire like MCD often did in the past.

  2. was it an 8 string in octaves or 8 individual tuned strings like KT's Conker?

I've kinda had GAS for both lately, but I'll prolly never get em.

I've heard GodHeadSilo before, pretty good stuff.

I'll have to check out Dead Low Tide and Murder City Devils. Any suggestions on where to find em?
  3. It was the octave type.

You can only find Dead Low Tide in MP3 format on their website right now.
Their full length will come out in october and their 7" is only available at their shows (or ebay).
Murder City Devils you can find about anywhere, though smaller independant record stores usually have a wider variety of their albums.
Any of their albums are good.
