DeArmond Pilot Plus 5, anyone tried one?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by bassdr, Dec 14, 2000.

  1. Per a previous thread I'm considering purchasing a DeArmond Pilot Plus 5 string. I have it down to this one and the Yamaha BBN5S and the Spector N2000/Q5, all are in the $450-550 range. On paper the DeArmond looks a class ahead with 35" scale, 5 piece neck-through, active EQ etc. Anyone have any experience with this bass, know where it's made or have an opinion of the others?

Also if you have a recommndation in this price range, let me know. Thanks.

Made in Korea, in the Cort factory I believe.

There is some great stuff coming out of Korea nowadays, kind of like Japanese stuff in the 80's.

Good construction, decent materials, and suspect, cheesy electronics.

A friend of mine has the base model DeArmond Pilot 5, it is a great bass for $359 new, but he is planning on replacing the pickups and electronics eventually.
