Is the wire used in older heads that's referred to as the "Death Cap" a standard size wire or were there different sizes used? If it's a standard size wire used in all heads of the time period, what is the size and where might I find it? FYI - In restoring a '68 Kustom bass head, I lost the original one and want to replace it. Thanks.

    It isn't a wire, it's a capacitor. The size is typically 0.01 to 0.1uF.
In any event, if your Kustom has a 2 wire cord do not use it. Replace it with a 3 wire. If you don't know how to safely do so, and how to install line noise shunt caps, have a qualified technician do it for you.
