Looking for something to match up with a Presonus EQ3B....just a dinking-around project so I'm trying to keep it well below $100. I know ART offers (offered?) an MP model but I'm sure there are others I've overlooked. I really don't need the full-blown bells & whistles, just a simple mic pre with some type of gain control. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to chime in! Thanks!

Okay, that's the ART MP for $29 and that includes free shipping. Reviews look good but there is some talk of system noise.

I can stand to spend a little more but that is a bargain! Thanks.

  4. I have a Studio Projects VTB1 that I got from an eBay seller.
The guy was the original owner and in a bind, so I got it for $80.

Also, take a peek at the various Rolls offerings.
These are very modestly priced, and work quite well.

Preamps intended only for microphones will have much lower input impedance than instrument preamps and will cause a drop in highs with a passive bass. The ART should be OK as it's made to handle instruments. Look for an input impedance of 500Kohm minimum.
