Decent price for 70s Ampegs?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by jenderfazz, Sep 2, 2004.

  1. Local music store just got an old bassist's rig in. All late 70s Ampegs. There's 2 SVT 8x10s (going for 1000 CDN each, that's about 700 American) and a V-4B head (going 650 CDN, about 450 American). Selling as a whole or in parts. I like the idea of the V-4B considering a new V-4BH is 1200 CDN and I've seen a used one go 850. And heck the 8x10s are 1000$ each! Sounds like a good price, what do you think?
  2. I got a late 70's SVT 810 for $700 Canadian although the cab was a little beat up. If they are mint and the speakers don't have any issues (voice coil rubbing) I would say that $1000 each isn't bad. Even better if they are flatback cabs.

That sounds like pretty average pricing these days. The head might even be a little high. Good condition V4's with Reverb are pulling around $400 on EBay. That havinbg been said, if I could land a good condition V4B at 400 USD, I'd jump on it.
