Defretting a rickenbacker

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Jacoproud, Feb 8, 2002.

  1. I am planning on getting another rickenbacker 4001 (late 70s - early 80s) and getting it defretted. Someone told me that the binding on the fretboard could be a problem. Anyone know how major a problem it could be? any experiences?

    Why not a 4003FL? (fretless)...

  3. I had enough trouble finding my original rick. Those fretlesses are as rare as hell in england. I definetly want an older one as well which makes the task even harder. ARGHHH
