alright, i pulled the frets out of my old p-bass, but won't be able to fill in the wood and epoxy the fretboard for a while. how bad would it be to throw some flatwound strings on it and play it while the fret slots are empty? would this warp the wood considerably?
    thanks,

That's a damn good questions. I did that once for a week but I took some tension off of the neck and used light gauge strings. It cupped a little but it was perfect after I tightened the rod a little. It belongs in Setup I think.

  3. It's not so much a question of the wood warping, but you may get some minor chips in the wood on the edge of the channel where the fret wire used to be inserted.

It won't take much effort to fill the fret channels.
