Cant find a suitable pickup for my Ibanez GVB-36. It came with MK1 Barts, I put Delanos there instead, but it's still super bright and not enough bottom.:rollno: Would MK4 help? Or maybe something darker with more bottom and low-mids?

    P.S. Have to be soapbars.

    :help:

Did you wire the Delano in series or parallel?

Series. Parallel will be even brighter, no?

Yep. So no free lunch there. Got a preamp? If not, a three- or four-band would help.

Yup. Just swapped pups with my Carvin Icon fretless. Now Icon sounds awesome with Delanos but Ibby sounds very muffled. Those standard Carvin pups almost have a built in LPF. So, in theory, something less bright than Delanos but brighter than Carvin's soapbars should be ok.

Did you install the Delano SBC 6 HE/S pickup?I'm looking for some input about Delano pickups for my seven string.

Mine is SBC 5 Driver HE/S Driver. Carvins have small string spacing, so even though Delano lists this as a 5 string pickup, I'm using it on a 6-er. Sound wise should be identical. I like it on this bass (mahogany body, maple neck, neckthrough) - it actually makes Carvin alive, works wonders here, most likely because the bass has a dark overall tone. On a fretted GVB36 (bolt-on, alder body, fretted) it was way too harsh for me. Overall, these Delanos sound bright, but very organic at the same time. If I would compare them, to, say EMG DC40, I would say that they're both bright, however EMG sound more compressed and "artificial", whereas Delanos sound more transparent and glassy (in a good way). Then again, it's a matter of taste, so I can see how some might find Delanos somewhat cold and clinical as opposed to, say, Bartolini Classic Bass Series.

Do you know what kind of magnet configuration Delano uses?Blade or pole pieces?
I can't seem to find any info on their site.

Blades, otherwise I would have problems with putting a 5 string pickup on a 6 string bass and I hear no issues - all strings sound the same (level wise).

Blades if it's a covered pickup. Poles (obviously!) for exposed pole.

    Great!Thanks!
I was hoping to find a diagram showing the blade layout like the EMG site has.
I'm asking because the volume of the D string on my seven (pictured left)has less output than all the other strings.

I guess that the makers used a six string split coil pickup instead of an actual seven string pickup.(string falls in the gap)
Some time in the future I'm having a set of SBC 7HE/S Dual coils dropped into my seven.
