'God save thee, ancient Mariner! From the fiends, that plague thee thus!— Why look'st thou so?'—With my cross-bow I shot the ALBATROSS" (- excerpt... Rime of the Ancient Mariner ) I may have got myself in a bit of a pickle... For an upcoming build, (a very "ambitious" one btw)... I have spec'd in a WHITE Delano Xtender 4 HE And my client is quite keen on the idea! I know the white covered exist... but it doesn't look like they are readily available here in the States. I have emailed Delano directly (Germany) And got back a very polite robo-response from Reinhard Jedamzik, stating that they are on holiday, and the company is "closed" from July 23 to Aug. 12. I am assuming they will face somewhat of a backlog on their return, and I suspect they will take care of their European accounts first ... so.... This build isn't scheduled for another 2 months... I assumed I had time for any "typical" special order lead time. I will contact their 2 USA dealers... but not holding my breath. Point being , I am asking if anyone here has... for sale... the afore mentioned pickup (1) Or has any idea where I might acquire one...slighty more quickly ? Thanks
I'm sure you thought of it but what about getting it in standard black and doing a thin holly veneer or something along those lines?
Yeah... I thought of covering...I think I will have to. Problem is the silly little indentation... thumb rest? I didn't want to have to make a full cover & increase the footprint... at all. There is going to be inlay... aaaalll over the body.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge... Wrote "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" But yes... Steve Harris & Iron Maiden's adaptation was very cool too. ...(not to mention...playing along with it was a great workout for the fingers)
Hey, you might try emailing bassline-bass.de. They stock a lot of Delano stuff. The white one is not listed but it does say to ask them if you need something you can't find on their website. Might be worth a try. I live here in Germany so if I can help you with shipping or something, let me know.
I work for a European company, literally everyone takes vacation from the end of July through late August. It's admirable and frustrating at the same time. I will admit my vacation allotment is pretty awesome, though I rarely get to take all my days.
On a visit to Fender Corona, a sales manager told me 'If there's a backorder at Fender, blame Schaller, those Germans sit around eating sauerkraut all day instead of making machine heads'. This explains so much.
I'm guessing you already considered having a black one sprayed in white? I'm sure you could get it done in matte white with a durable automotive paint...
Not so much paint... no I haven't considered that. I would be afraid even auto paint would wear off eventually ...like at the usual string wear spots on any pickup. I do however, know people with 3d printers... I could scan it & get a very thin plastic shell done . Wouldn't have to be as thick as wood...??
