How long are you supposed to soak your strings for the desired effect to occur? Half an hour, or a few hours? I have a gig tonight and am short on cash for new strings, wondering if I can pull something off.

Put them in now, but i keep mine in for days because i don't like to babysit my strings. :D I think it work best after about a day, but you may get better results...i have very acidic hands...

These were brand new strings about a week ago. But that night I was being Bartender for my friends and squeezed a few limes before playing. I washed my hands, but the acid from that must have killed my strings.

Put 'em in a bottle and shake it.

Worked like a dream. I soaked them for about 30-40 minutes with some shaking at the beginning and end. The strings went well, but the show was nearly a disaster!

  8. Sounds like the inexpensive way to go.
    Thanks for the info.
