determining gauge...

    how do you determine what gauge your bass takes? or does it not matter? my friend claims to measure them somehow but i just want to double check...
  2. Its all down to preference really. However, higher gauge generally means higher tension, which means potentially lower action. But it's not always like that. It also makes a bit of a difference in sound. Thinner = a bit more twang
