Well. it's over. A great time was had by all, and the food was fantastic. Larry morgan came through for us big time, providing 4 different door prizes and T-shirts for everybody. If they hadn't brought the PA and the Amps, it would have been a very different event entirely. Can't wait for the next one, maybe we can do it at my house next time, or even at my church in Mesquite. I'm the A/v director, so I'm sure I could get us in for an event. I'll opst the pictures I took and let everybody else post information on all the great basses. First pic: My son with his Bronco bass. I couldn't get him to play in front of every one, but I can't blame him. I was nervous about playing in front of almost everyone there too.
This bass was the talk of the afternoon, and one of the best looking basses I have ever seen, and certainly the best one anyone ever trusted me enough to actually hold. When it went to go plug it in, I said, "what, it makes sound TOO???" Oh baby, did it ever make sound...
Here's a picture of the gallery area. We had a really nice lineup, but a couple of these were basses brought by Larry Morgan Music. Sure did make my basses seem pretty patetic in comparison. The hot rot Bronco did get played in public, and people seemed to like it. The EMG Yamaha didn't get plugged in all day though.
Here's a modulus that Larry morgan brought. I've never played a bass with a whammy bar before, and I must admidt that it was pretty cool!
Embellisher (again) playing stubi19's Steve Harris P bass. This bass was great! Speaking of embellisher, did anybody get any good pics of his Cirrus? I was mesmerized by that thing. By the way, Stubi19 won the big Door prize for the gift certificate, but now he has to drive up again from Corsicana to use it!
DigMe and Chance from Larry morgan Jamming. What a couple of great players! Chance is playing a hollow body Modulus, and DigMe has his Empire Bass.
I've got some pics too.. Here's me racing to get to the get-together. My trip started off in usual DigMe style - I got 20 minutes out of Temple headed to Dallas (2 hour drive) and suddenly realized that I forgot my wallet! Doh! So..after I got the wallet it was a race to get to Dallas...
Got to Crescent City Cafe and found several familiar faces including the man who brought it all together.
Here's one of the guys from Larry Morgan music TEARING it up jazz style on Jeff Rader's exquisite new Nordstrand
How does Embellisher get into so many damn pictures?! Pictured here with a bass built by a local Dallas guy... Notice adoring wife in background.
Sorry if I went overboard with the pics. We had a great time and the food was good too! Lots of nice stuff from members and from Larry Morgan music. Those guys could really play too! Rader's new bass is even more stunning in person and really a player too. Fantastic. Can't wait to see what he'll acquire next!! Enjoyed hanging out with everyone and wish we could have had some more collective jamming. Maybe next time we could get a drummer or something. Great job though Mark! brad cook
Thanks Mark for the kind words. Now if only I could make it sound as good as Jeff did... And I will gladly make an hours trip to a store that will let me handle a $8K Fodera...I'm still in shock
