Guys, I just want to show you the final design for the VT1 Spitfire BASS pedal that's been developed by Dave Hall. He has been making pedals for years and these are great sounding swiss army knives for the tone purist. Final production of these will start shortly and I know Dave has a discount for the first 10 ordered. Get in touch with Dave if you're interested, very easy to talk to and there maybe an opportunity for the introduction price. [email protected]
cool. how does it differ in sound/function from the older VT1 EQ DI? I see the "colour" knob is new. EDIT is the "boost" function the same? (actually a boosted clean blend)
Hey Knubskull Here are the specs! 1/4" jacks in and out with true by-pass Balanced XLR out with 3 position ground lift - Ground, Float and Ploat Stereo headphone out with mixed Stereo Aux in 2 stage 12AX7 valve design for valve warmth and drive - user can swap valve types for different tones Bright switch Colour switch and pot - adds negative feedback which adds compression and distortion Boost switch and pot - clean amplification of the signal. +- 15dB cut/boost EQ with Treble, Mid and Bass controls Q pot - adjusts the centre frequency of the Mid control Input Pad Gain and Level controls 9-12VDC @ 300mA centre negative power connector. 12VDC international power supply supplied Blue back-light power on indicator Blue LED effect on indicator via Foot switch Small foot-print - 145 x 130 x 60mm
Its the same circuit as the older original version and the MK2 so sounds the same - the colour switch adds negative feedback for extra gain and distortion and the pot adjusts the amount. The boost is a clean boost after the effect.
can't, sorry. the 1/4" out jack is there now and there is no space left now I have all the switches on the top
I like the switches on the top instead of on the side on my VT1....other than that it's probably the same..... Dave, I'd like to try different tubes in mine......which 12au7 would you suggest for a warmer/smoother OD? Thanks
Hi NOS (new old stock) valves are the best if you can get them - Mullards, RCA, Siemens. ECC82 Mullards aren't to hard to get at a fair price and that would be my recommendation. If new valves then Electro harmonics (Sovtech) and JJs are good. Don't go near any of the new Chinese valves.
Looks good. Individual volume control for the DI? Very handy! I agree. I've had a few email tennis matches with Dave over the years, one of the genuine nice guys out there in guitar-pedal-land.
VT1-Pro-Bass-Drive is now on the website I am looking for a US rep if anyone is interested or has any suggestions
Dave, the clips I heard from the earlier EQ bass sounded super awesome. You need more clips to show this off! I bet it wouldn't be hard to find someone to make some youtube demos. It's on my short list of bass pedals to buy. XLR out on front needs fixing, front output just wont work unless it's sitting on a desk. A bigger box if needed to accomodate the XLR placement wouldn't bother me. Rackmount option would be my choice. So many great tones!!! -Slimm
