If you don’t want to read it all, the title says all.

I was thinking and I did small search, I didn’t find it.
I found most asnwer is: What exactly you need it for??

My concern is Quality of the DI itself.
Most preamp DI are the same size of a good DI Box. Why?? Should the DI box be smaller without preamp.

I know Reddi is big DI box and Noble is small Preamp DI both on High price.
But most DIs $100 to $300 are almost same size.

I had a few of them, Listed bellow.

-Sansamp Bass Driver DI - Noise
    -Sansamp VT bass DI ( 2 ) - Noise
    - MXR Bass Preamp M81 - less noise
    - Radial JDI - Great - Low output
    - Radial JDV - Great , Priced - Heavy

    My Current DI is:

    - Radial J48 - Great di for the price
    - Le Bass preamp DI - Really Good.

I’m building a new pedalboard and I’ll do it with a DI on it already.

So I was thinking about Reddi if i get the money for it or RNDI Neve.

My current pedalboard has a really low noise ( Being picky on this)
I’ll try to build a noise free as possible pedalboard and the next DI will be on it.

Does the quality on preamp DI are less than on the DI Box??
  2. It depends some of the preamp di pedals cheap out on the di, some are a really good di with a meh pre, and then there are ones that hit them both out of the park.

  3. I started collecting DI boxes before they were making preamp DI boxes, my first active DI was an MXR NG/LD that I used on my pedal board for 30+ years. My long time favorite active DI was the Countryman Type 85 until I got the RNDI that is simply magical.

The REDDI, Nobles and other high end tube DI are very nice but were I to spend that kind of money I would go for more value and look at a mic preamp or channel strip with more features for the same money for the studio.

IMHO The gear you have is great and I don't think you will hear an improvement for the money you might spend, just my opinion.
