    M'kay, here's the story;
    I've got this Dean Z bass, the first bass I've ever owned, pretty much a beginners bass. Here in about a month, I was planning on purchasing a few upgrades (Emg's, new hardware, all that jazz)

    But anywho, this idea hit me, in theory, if I had a big sheet of Diamond plated metal, cut it and filed/grinded it to where it fit on my bass, all I would have to do is bolt it on to the bass itself, right?

    Appreciate any feedback! It's my first post, hope you guys can help! :p

  2. Well, this guy I played a gig with did it to his guitar.

    Let me tell you ONE thing: EXTREMELY HEAVY :p

    It looks cool, but as far as sound goes, it doesn't change anything. All it does is add a TON to the weight.

    Why not? There's also the easier and lighter option of just making a pickguard.

    I've got a bass painted with spray-in bedliner, that's also a good redneck metal finish.
