I can't believe I didn't see any posts about the date being 1-4-5 today. Well now it was yesterday, but you know what I mean.
I always play a jazz blues - with the A -, D7, G-, C7 - turnaround - as it always amazes me that the most basic structure can remain so challenging - to play well! But I only played along to some Tribal Tech earlier, so no, I didn't do that today - ooops...
Several times, keys of Bb, C, Ab, G, etc...rock beats, latin samba, lots of shuffles and even a swing tune (Honey Bee, originally by Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers)! That's what happens at rehearsals of Under Arrest (my R&B / Blues band.) Happy 1-4-5, everyone...
HAHAHAHAHHA, this thread cracks me up. Unfortunatly my cover band is gone... but now that you mention it... I did tool around in the blues form. Happy Belated birthday I-IV-V....
Did 2 tunes last nite at the gig on upright: Blues in the Closet - G (Oscar Pettiford) Green St- Bb ( Grant Green) with solos too.
Well happy 12-Bar Blues Day to my European TB brethren, and to anyone else who puts the day before the month in your date system. Today's date is 1-4-05 for those of you who count it that way. Celebrate it by playing a 12-bar blues!
I played 1-4-05 all day, but in the jazzy, modal way, so really it was 1 (sus4), 5+9, 7dim11 with a uniquely strange hendrix/satriani chordal mode playing in 12/8 over the drummer playing in 5/4. Sounded a bit like Yes......
Didn't play a 12 bar, but instead played Good Lovin, Louie Louie, Twist and Shout, La Bamba, Summertime Blues, Amazing Grace, Great Balls of Fire, Get Off of My Cloud, Baby's in Black, All Shook Up, Hearbreak Hotel, and Stir It Up
Sure are a lot of I-IV-V tunes out there. Think I'll play the Clash's rendition of the old blues tune Brand New Cadillac.
I hacked away at the guitar today, and I played some blues based licks. I probably walked/hacked/played through a 1-4-5 in an unintentional way.
