Yeah, I'd agree that it's "value priced" for an instrument of that grandeur but again; why???

Man, that's surprising! But Al has gotten some new stuff recently, hasn't he? Maybe the 11 is getting all of the work and this 9 is just sitting ??

Decent price for it, too, and the bass looks like it's in great shape ..... but I can't imagine there are too many guys looking for a used 9. Most of the higher string count guys are either here at TB and or over at ExtendedRangeBassist, Al should post-up in both places ......

You should go for it, Mark .... what's one extra string once you get to 8? It's 2 strings too many for me ..... ;)

I'm so "string-poor" now I'm having to sell one of my 8s!!

    Yeah, I know

..... wish somebody would buy that and get it outta my face ... ;)

  7. Not to sound cynical, but why exactly would one buy a bass with the guy's name on the fretboard? I know, I know, people buy signature models all the time and so forth, but this seems like a bass personally crafted for the guy.

    He should keep it.

No man, that's too much axe for me .... I'm still trying to become respectable with a 7  It sure is a beautiful bass, though .......

Since there aren't any "production" 9 strings being built, I guess this would be as close to a sig 9 string as you could get. It wouldn't bother me anymore than having a Rocco sig or any of the others ..... after all, have you heard Al Caldwell play  :hyper: :bassist: I'd be honored to have a bass with his name on it .....

I don't know man......playing someone else's signature bass....Isn't that like brushing your teeth with someone else's brush?

If you look at the ad, you'll see that Al's played for Check Rainey! That's important! (just poking fun, Brian!)

Me neither but it sure would be fun to try! Especially with another midi setup on there like Al had. The name can stay but the gold hardware has to go :)

    A 9-string bass.

After 20+ years, I'm still trying to master 4.
