I just pick up a used SVT-Pro 4 Ampeg head from a store and a new BXT410 Ampeg cab. The band is going on tour (tour=6-8 weeks followed my 9 months out of the year)so i figured i needed more amp. Old amp is a working mans 15. Should i take them back and put the cash towards something more practical? PLZ HELP ME!

P.S. plz see my band vehicle post in band managment if u can help.

WM 15's bring $4's pretty easily, sell it to recover your investment.

Oh, and I will have the slaw.........

  7. What do you find so impractical about your new amp.

But dude, as long as you gave her some guy's adress in New York, you won't have to worry about protection.

you don't quite grasp the "haiti" part of the comment, do you? ;)

  12. And now for a semi-serious reply.

Sound like you made a good investment for a road trip to me. WM15 is a decent amp but not made for touring IMHO. Just not enough meat on the bones. The big A should do it for you. Umm, I don't get the more practical part, but maybe a little less amp and a new bass would be a good answer?

JT, weren't you not so long ago talking about an unprotected trip to Bakersfield you made about 17-18 years ago? :D

We're all reaping the repercussions from that.

    Hey and_Justice,

I'm not quite sure by what you mean by "more practical." I have an SVT-4PRO and a BXT-410HLF and it's a great rig... I've got the BXT-15HLF as well but the 410 alone is great cab. The main downfall that I've found with the BXT's and the SVT4 is that they are all really heavy... of course compared to an SVT-2PRO or SVT-CL the 4PRO is a featherweight. If you mean practical for playing shows I think it should work fine... as long as you have room to transport it...

    Good luck!

Im glad to see so many replys! Thanx for the imput guys, heres some more:

I guess by pratical i mean is there a better style of rig to go on the road with. Like an old beater i dont care about or something.

Its just the head i really am not sure about. I bought it used, really used from a music store. I sent it back for them to fix it, but its still giving me trouble, crackling and stuff. The cab's brand new. Should i get my money back and put it towards a new head?
