Did I make the right color choice?

My GB is all set to go to the spray shop and I had to decide on a color today. Bernie thought that a subtle sunburst, maybe a cherry/amber sunburst would really look nice, but I held out for keeping a natural finish instead. I couldn't see putting any kind of color on this and taking away from the wild quilt. :D

I used Masterfunks new Sadowsky as a reference, since the maple top has a vey similar quilt to it and mine will also have a rosewood board. Mine will have black hardware, though.

Here's an early picture of my top (before being finished):

What do you think? Right decision or would you have gone with a burst?

    Oh yeah!

I like the natural... save the burst finish for an alder body!

  4. Personally I would have picked a solid black color for it.

    :D JK..

That top looks STUNNING.. You made a good choice..Maybe if the sunburst had been very subtle and the colors were the right ones.. It would have made a quite unique and awesome finish.. But you can´t go wrong with a natural finish anyway..
    ;)

I woulda gone with a colored stain of some sort, not being a huge fan of natural maple.

But it doesn't matter what we think. Do YOU like it? That's all that matters!

I really like it. I had a beautiful natural Lakland a few years ago, but ended up selling it.

I'm quite happy with the choice, but it's nice to get other thoughts and opinions.

You have done no wrong. That bass is gorgeous. Nothing beats nice figured and quilted maple, no matter what color!

  14. Great choice. I think either of them would look stunning. The sunburst would look great too.
