Did Steve Bailey switch to Warwick?

Discussion in 'Bassists [BG]' started by peteroberts, Oct 4, 2004.

  1. I just got the new Bass Player, and there's a couple of pictures of Steve (and Vic) at their 15th Anniversary party and he is playing what appears to be a Warwick Streamer 6!

I know he has an Aria signature model...but I saw the Warwick and thought 'Cool! Maybe his tone will be better'. :bassist:

I noticed that too. I just thought it was an old bass in his arsenal.

See I noticed as well I hope he's switched.

never really heard him but that aria was really really ugly

Now Woodchuck you need to be realistic if you had a fretless 6 warwick in your arsenal would you really spend your days playing a aria. :p

It did suit him a bit more I thought, I would be interested to know if that warwick is fitted with his fretless preamp thingy that he's developed.

I'm sure some one will know

    Cheers

And prior to the Aria he used a fender Heartfield DR6 which is a gorgeous instrument, I guess he quit using those after fender decided to discontinue the model.

No, the photo showed the "end" of the bass, and it was most certainly a Warwick-style two-piece bridge.

Well it's official. I've been at the Warwick site and Steve Bailey is listed as an endorser.

I imagine his tone will stay about the same though. He sounded pretty much exactly the same on the Heartfields and the Arias.

  11. i thought i saw a picture of him playing a pedulla rapture not long ago

Nope that was likely a picture of his Aria Pro2 signature model which roughly has the same design pickguard

Yes they MADE a fretted four string version. But with their total bass range being re-vamped the Avanty series (to which those basses belonged) is discontinued.

Steve Bailey playing Warwick basses? This is very good news, they're amazing basses (well, the Streamers and Thumbs at least) and he's an amazing player!

There's some videos on www.bassplayer.tv with him using one. His tone is slightly nicer with the Warwicks, but not too different.

I think he's decided to give up playing anything besides false harmonics at this point.

Check out the Bill Clements video. I swear he can play faster with one hand than I can play with two.

Steve isn't currently endorsing any bass specifically. He still plays his AP, as well as an Ibanez that was made for him, he does have a warwick....along with many other basses. You 'may' see a new sig-model coming out in the future...
