    Hi
I have played DR nickle low riders for a while now and they are a strings that is wound on a hex core. I was thinking about trying something new next time and trying their sunbeams which are a round core string. I was wondering what te difference would be tonewise and in feel.
    Thanks
    Ben

The tone doesn't seem that different, but round cores have a little less tension. I find that the low tension of Sunbeams works great on my fretless, and the higher tension of Lo-Riders is good for my Jazz.

In my opinion, go with some Dean Markley nickelwound strings. I use them, and they are true beasts.:D

It seems like most strings are hex. The DR Hi-Beams are round core and Status makes some round core strings that are most common across the pond. Are there other round cores for bass?
