Difference between Hum-cancelling and Single Coils

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by taquitos43, Mar 12, 2006.

  1. Hey, I've kind of been wondering what the difference in sound qualities between Hum-cancelling pickups and single coils are. I understand the hum calcelling thing, but how does that affect the sound? Just curious... Thanks!!:eyebrow:

While removing the hum, hum-cancelling pickups tend to lose a bit of high end and mids. I find single coils to generally be much cleaner sounding.
