Different Fender?

  1. I saw a Pearl Jam concert thing on VH1 last night. In a lot of songs, the bassist played Fender Jazzes. On one song he played what looked to have 2 jazz in the normal positions and a Gibson type humbucker at the very base of the neck. THe body appeared to look like a squared off jazz bass. It actually kind of looked like Kurt Cobain's guitar. It was red with a tortiose pickguard that covered much of it. It was a Fender judging by the headstock. Anyone know what this is?
  2. My guess either a jazz with a humbucker added, or a Tele II with 2 J pups added

My recollection from the last Bass Player article on him is that it's actually an old "parts" bass, with a Modulus Graphite fretless replacement neck, a Warmoth body, and (I think) Bartolini pickups.
