I know should probably be asked over on the db forums but I'm shy... So best information I can glean is: 4/4 = 43.5 7/8 = ? 3/4 = 41.5 1/2 = 38 1/4 = 35.5 1/8 = ? 1/10 = ? I know db scale lengths are not precise, but can anyone fill in the gaps?
Gollihur Double Bass Sizing FAQ is essentially along those lines. Pirastro integrates mensure (scale length) values for the last two-three sizes: Pirastro - Strings Handmade in Germany since 1798 1/8 is 31.5", 1/10-1/16 (they group them together) approach cello scale, at 27.6".
Great, that's filled in enough of the gaps 4/4 = 43.5 7/8 = inbetween 43.5 and 41.5 3/4 = 41.5 1/2 = 38 1/4 = 35.5 1/8 = 31.5 1/10 = roughly 4/4 cello Although like all db sizes it's "-ish".
You really need to post something on the DB side, if you are interested in DB. Lots of *very* knowledgable folks over there, with very few knife-whetters.
