I have a Warwick Corvette Standard 5 string with the original set of strings on it.
I want to try D'addario Chromes Flatwounds on it.
I was wondering if I will have to do some big setup changes when switching strings?

The original Warwick set tension is:
    1. 43.0 G
    2. 49.1 D
    3. 46.1 A
    4. 39.0 E
    5. 37.7 B

and the D'addario set tension is:
    1. 45,7 G
    2. 52,0 D
    3. 43,7 A
    4. 38,4 E
    5. 35,9 B
  2. You might have to. One other thing to watch out for is the low B on the new set. The Warwick needs to have a tapercore string, or a modified regular string, to fit properly in the bridge. When you change string gauge you usually have to give yourself a setup. Just some food for thought.

well the D'Addario set doesn't have the tapered B...
On the Warwick site they say you could modify the bridge slightly so the string will fit...
Another question...Does the silk on the string affect the sound?...Do I have to remove the silk if the part of the string over the saddle does have silk on it?
Anybody tried D'Addario chromes on a Warwick Corvette std?
