Definitely not a review or clips... yet. I've been sorta shooting in the dark on this one, and I must say its been a fun 3 hours total so far. There are some very usable sounds and Im really liking mode 4 (synth 2) The only 2 things I would love to see are (and will prolly just get another unit for): 1) an output boost/cut volume. Some modes/settings just kill the volume, yet others boost the **** out of it. 2) a filter start knob. I like the mode 4 sound, but would love to see a filter start adjustment. Other than that, a very fun unit. I actually sorta like the way the "octasub" mode (mode 7) is set up where you're clean sound is always at full volume (no volume drop on that) and you just add the octave signal (this is where a total volume cut would be useful IMO). Then again, with my POG, I always have the dry set max and just add in the octave. The tracking is awesome, and even tho its monophonic AFAIK, it does its best to not glitch, but glitches in a non-annoying fashion IMO. Anyways, I've got to do some more experimenting and such before I do a full review. My only real issue is that mode 1 (env filter) sux nutz. It either loses a lot of bass or sounds really weaksauce. If anyone has any good settings for that mode it would be awesome. Mode 2 (sub env) is pretty awesome tho.
Try putting an overdrive in front of it with the gain AND volume maxed. It amplifies all the noise and sends the filter crazy with just the lightest touch of the strings and you can tweak away on the knobs and get all kind of weird effects. I sold mine, but wish I didn't now, because that part of it was so much fun!
I totally want one of these. I want the SYB5 though w. an expression. There is a guy on youtube that is doing some sick **** w. his. I love the bubbley last one.
Im currently working up a review, but I've tended to find the 1st 2 modes to be "meh" at best, tho mode 2 is slightly > mode 1. Mode 5/6 are interesting (got a dog bark sound ), but the most useful are 4 (yummy synth fuzz) and 7 (yummy octave). Mode 3 is kindof cool too, especially for the "speaker spanker" sound I got out of it
I know you're prolly just being a cheeky monkey, but: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=506727 /feedtroll
