Im going to be a senior this year in high school so the all important thoughts of going to college are really becoming a daily thing. I play bass and upright in all the bands at the school ...jazz band, concert band , pit , drumline, pep band...etc. I really would like to continue on with music in college but my parents (and myself more and more) are not sure major in music performance will produce a steady job. Is it that important that I am majoring or minoring in music to be in the groups. If you really think about it getting a degree in music does not mean you are going to be placed into a job right out of the spot. At most schools could I still audition and be in a jazz band or such without being a music major?? I am starting to consider music production and I have long been interested in Radio Broadcasting and I am taking a high school radio class this year. Any input would be appriciated.

  2. All you can do is follow your heart. It may be hard to get a career in the music field, but you never know. You might just catch a lucky break. Are you planning on going to a Community College first, or straight to a 4 year University?
