    These are terrific pickups - they turned my American Deluxe Jazz into a beast!

    Are you sure? DiMarzio J5 pickups are usually the same size. They have the same dimensions as a 4 string bridge position J pickup.

    "Neck and bridge positions. Important Note: The cover dimensions of the Area J™ 5 are not the same as 5-string Fender Jazz Bass®. The Area J™ 5 therefore cannot be installed as direct replacements on these basses without modification."

    Correction they are both the same length. 3.73 it's just a fraction higher on the caliper due to the plastic.
