Does anyone have a review of the Dimarzio X2N-B pickup?

I'm gonna get a custom bass made and this pickup seems interesting. I've searched but have not come up with much info.

    thanks

I'd like to hear more about this pickup, I dropped an X2N in my guitar and absolutely love it. I read one review on Harmony Central or a similar site where someone dropped a normal X2N into their Ibanez bass and their only complaint was that it didn't reach across all five strings (obviously not a problem if you only play a 4 string).

Sounds very cool, keep us posted.

It is a bass pickup Dimarzio modeled after the X2N, but with more bass. The X2N-B is a humbucker and looks just like the X2N.

Dimarzio doesn't list it, but it is in regular production. Go figure.

Here's a couple of pictures of the X2N-B in the bridge area:

Anywhere that sells DiMarzio pickups can order one in.

I think you can get em here in all the wacky colors --
black, white, zebra, blue, green, pink, yellow, etc.

    There's even a DP126 set (Model P, Model J) listed in green :D

Maybe it's my bad eyes, but (in the pics above) does it look
like the E and G are barely covered by the blade ends? :eyebrow:

Anybody know what those other two pups are in that white bass, especially the bridge pup?

The middle one looks like a DM Split P (DP127), and the big one at the bridge might be out of an Ibanez ATK300

    Thanks.

I just noticed that bass has 3 pups and no apparent controls. Must be wallart.

It looks like the E and G strings are to the edge of the blades, but I say there is enough of a magnetic field that it shouldn't be a problem. Though, I could be wrong at any time.

That's a good point. That must be an EBO spaced pup.

On the white bass for sure. I'd lay money volume would drop if you bent the E or G away from the pup. Even the dude with the Harpoon looks to be pushing limits but bending out of a bridge is one thing, bending out of a neck is not hard to do.

How come one has exposed blades and one doesn't?

I was under the impression those pics of the Harpoon bass and the white bass both have that X2n-B pup, but they don't both have exposed poles.

I tried. They added the greenies to the list when I requested them. But DiMarzio still won't make anything but black or creme for bass pickups. :meh:

Any idea why DiMarzio doesn't have it on their website though, if it's in production?

And it seems the normal X2N is a fairly common mod on basses, any reason for this? And is it assumed the X2NB just gives a bassier tone than the guitar X2N?

Both pickups have exposed blades. Lighting and other stuff play lots of tricks. Trust me, I've seen that bass in person. And the "Harpoon" bass is called the Arachnid Ultra.

I don't know. Dimarzio doesn't advertise several other pickups as well like the Megadrive, but yet you can still order them. Go figure.

The X2N-B is like the X2N, but has more bass and was designed for bass.
