Many people love the looks, many people love the sounds, even more people love the "mojo" and the "value" of the originals, fewer people like the limitations of the original design and execution, that's why there is a demand to that part of the bass market. I am not one of them. Then again, I bought a Dingwall Super PJ 4 purely based on the sounds, playability and ergonomics, NOT on the fact that it was a J based design

Yeah, I understand the demand, but it seems a lot of companies who started with their own design are adding Jstyle series...

Sei Basses, have produced some superb J style basses in the UK, as well as other UK luthiers

  11. And we here in the Gallery have a couple of Dingwall fan fret basses in stock - as well as the custom made Sei basses.

I have specifically invented the term DAS (Dingwall Acqusition Syndrome) for Dingwall related fantasies ;) :bag:

  15. I really like this one! Though, IMHO I feel it would have been much nicer if it had a matching headstock. :bassist:

  16. Oh I D.A.S. all the time, but funds won't support it!

  17. If they offered a 7 string, that would be the death of me!

IIRC Sheldon mentioned sth about a Dingwall-specific set of strings that will allow us to tune to F#. Can't wait!!! I have been discussing the Dingwall 7-str F# possibility for over 5 yrs, but since I am mainly a 5str Dingwall man I'll take the first 5 str set available!!!

  19. I'd probably want to high string it, but it would be great to have that kind of f# available and you know it would kill!

Jeeze, you'd think for all the money he charges for those things, he'd be able to put the pickups and frets on STRAIGHT. Pfft.............:bag::D
