    I like him.

I remember seeing him play a Warwick Infinity Acoustic in the video for Drive and he was the first bass player i've ever seen to use that bass, but then a week later I found out he doesnt use it live, he only used it for the video. :(

He´s really cool, one of my personal favs, but if you´ve never seen anyone talk about him you should try to search. I´m sure you´ll find a lot.

  5. I think he's pretty good, I think sometimes he gets drowned out by their guitarist. But he plays some good countermelody and funk lines. And has a pretty good sense of melody.

    i like him too.
i think people here dont talk about him much cuz incubus isnt as popular as say RHCP or Jaco.

  7. he is awsome, incubus rocks!!

  8. Dirk is the man. I love his work. He used that other warwick in the live performance of drive on leno but i've never seen it in the concert...i don't think he uses it in a concert. I think he is one of the best bassists today.

  9. He's one of my favourite bassists.
His real name is Alex, can't remember his last name.
Dirk Lance is his porno name , they put it on the albums for fun, like Brandon Boyd's says Brandon of the jungle:D
He uses a Warick Infinity on his ascoustic stuff in the studio, otherwise he uses a Warick Thumb 5, lucky bastard:p

  10. ill just be the first to say it for this forum.....his basslines always seem to fit the song:D and im really lookin forward to their new album coming out

  11. I like him. Their guitarist does some pretty unconvential stuff and it's always cool to hear how Dirk makes a bassline that fits perfectly for the song. Of course his flashier stuff like "Speak Free" is cool, but I like the line on "The Warmth" just as much.

  14. I'm pretty sure your right about his name.
I love alex' style, his bassline in Redefine is awesome. 'You will be a hot dancer', 'Hilikus' and 'Idiot Box' are all awesome too , ah stuff it, I like them all.
    Especially 'The Warmth':D

Cool player, good tone. I prefer Mike Einzinger to Alex, but they're both good players.

BTW, he doesn't use a Thumb 5, he uses an SSII 5.

no....he uses a warwick streamer stage II 5 string

  17. Ah, well pointed Angus and Duff_Man.
I was mistaken. I have a poster in my room of him using a thumb-5 live in concert, but the picture was from their first EP.

  18. "Alex" is also one of my favs, i like his tone and his sense of melody...
    Great player

  19. Alex is by far my favorite bassist and I am also suprised that i see so little about this talented man. I really enjoy his bass lines on Fungus Amungus and Science, but I like his others as well. My favorite two bass lines would hae to be in Speak Free (Fungus Amungus) and Hilikus (also Fungus Amungus). If you want to check out his best bass work, check out Fungus Amungus. Incubus' other CDs are great, S.C.I.E.N.C.E. being my favorite. Their new album hits stores next week! So don't forget to pick it up!

  20. DIrk is superb. my fave ever since i started. his stuff inspired me to get better. i think you dont hear much about him because

    a) Incubus aint that big (yet)

    b) Their music is not bass heavy like RHCP

DIRK RULES as does his SSII
