I play in a modern rock band, we use a LOT of digital samples, keys, programming etc...

Im trying to achieve and very synthetic type bass distortion. Possibly even with some key like over tones. I play a 5 string tuned down to A# so I need to keep the definition in those low notes.

Anyone know of any good bass distortion units that leave your low end in tact?

Price is no object as the perfect tone is my ultimate goal!

    Thanks!!!

Bass Big Muff would be a good starting point.

Key type overtone? Brassmaster clones: B:assmaster or a Depth Charge.

Ive heard really good things about the Depth Charge. JMJ uses one with NIN. Im a big fan of those distorted tones.

This will most likely be what I go with.

  8. Maybe a Zoom UltraFuzz, if you can find one. I had one for a while, but it wasn't my thing. It would have been awesome if I were in an industrial or electronic band.

if you're going that route....a malekko b:assmaster might be a good choice as well.

  10. I could be wrong on this, but my understanding was that the Depth Charge was similar sounding, but noticeably more gritty sounding.

Yes, and the Depth Charge does this VERY well.
