Inexperienced builder here. Question is: How bad is it to have a bump in the 70-150Hz range (like shown in the attached picture?) The bump goes up to 1,6dB in the ~94Hz range. I already have a ported 2x10 cab that I use with my Micro-VR head, but I want to build an inexpensive sealed 2x8 so I can have both options (not going to use them together). Buying a SVT210AV is out of question because they cost about $800 down here. For this project I'll use 2 Goldwood GW-208/8 (specs in the attached pic also) so I can have 200w RMS @4 Ohms (they're cheap at parts-express).
2x8 cabs can turn out really nice; many years ago I built a 2x8 sealed cab for a bi-amp rig I was running (the bottom is a TL606 clone). The 2x8 actually sounded great as a full-range cab. I used it for practice all the time. Because they were the first cabs I built, I totally OVER built them. I made them from very thick marine-grade plywood. They weighed a TON. I sold them years ago. Today, I think my whole rig weighs less than that 2x8! --Steve
That setup looks great! I thought about building the 2x8 (or a 2x6) and a ported 1x12, but when I started going thru crossovers and port specs I just decided to keep it simple and cheap
