DIY tube DI

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by billoetjen, Aug 12, 2007.

  1. Hi Folks,

I'm getting to the place where I could use a nice, reliable DI that would add more to my tone than take away from it. The Ampeg SVT sounded great, but I understand that it is now discontinued and hard to find. I actually thought it was kind of pricey at the time.
Anyone care to draw up plans for a simple tube DI? Preferably based on the 12AU7 (I have a nice collection of vintage ones, thanks to my Ampeg BA115HPT).
    Thanks in advance,

    Bill Oetjen

Have you already done any tube amp building? If not, check Geofex.com for some good basic instruction.

Check Jensen Transformers site. Basically a totempole 12AU7 + good transformer is what you need.
