I teach a group of High School students big band. I was picking up some new music for them at Peppers and picked Manteca. In reading the score, it seems that the whole band starts by singing the opening bass riff with the words "I'll never go back to Georgia". As we live in Georgia, I'd like to know what the story is behind this before I hand it out to the kids.... anyone know?

    thanks
