The Whammy aside, i know of very little pros hu use digitech, other than the specialised artist pedals and Chris Chaney. It just seems to me most pros would rather use Boss or DOD. Are there any pros that use Digitech?

    Cheers

Unless endorsed, I find that not many pros stick with one brand of pedals, but rather whatever sounds best.

I don't care who makes a pedal if it's reliable and sounds best in my situation.

As you said, the Whammy is pretty popular. Also, the Bass Synth Wah seems to be in pretty widespread use among bassists.

I think one major problem with DigiTech is that they have most of their boxes modeled after other effects. Personally, I've found with DigiTech that their approximations are still pretty far from the real thing.

As far as I can tell, Digitech has always designed and marketed their gear (even their "better" rackmount units) for the non-pro market. That doesn't mean somebody can't get pro results with them (or any other piece of gear), just that odds are for a little more money you can get a piece of gear that was actually designed to higher standards.

Weirdly, some of the gear by their sister company DOD is excellent.

there's lots of people who use the Whammy (Justin Chancellor, Tom Morello), and I've seen a fair number of people mention the BSW, including Bootsy and TM Stevens....

Most artists will use whatever brands will give them product or money.
I used to have a bunch of DT pedals. Loved them.

If I recall correctly, DOD is Digitech's "budget line." Both are owned by Harman International, who also owns JBL, Lexicon, Crown, dbx, Soundcraft, BSS, AKG and others.

Actually, it's the other way around: DOD was founded in 1974 and Digitech was founded in 1985 as an "offshoot brand". (Link) The fx produced by DOD between 74 and the early 80's are generally better quality IMO than almost anything else in the same price range.

s**t, even when endorsed, pros use whatever sounds best. most important is what they say they use, if they're endorsed.

if i recall correctly, chris whaltshisnalme from muse uses a digitech BSW sometimes. i've also sold many Bad Monkeys to pro guitarists... because they're cheap and are a pretty good tube screamer knockoff.
