I'm talking about lyrics to songs. I've heard songs that just scream "die die die kill rape whore" and I'm like...the FCC allows that crap?

Anyway, is this the whole 1st amendment issue? So you're allowed to publish anything you want (with label's approval, of course)..but you pay the price if..say..you're like ozzy and someone commits suicide to your song?

    Just curious, thanks.

I do not think that an artist can be blamed for someone taking their song to an extreme.

Hell, I fill my mind with evil rock music all day (Metallica, Black Sabbath, Korn, AC/DC) and I don't feel like eating a baby, worshipping satan, starting riots etc...

People who kill themselves do to a song or something like that are just people who should be nominated for Darwin awards, IMHO.

I was reading the lyrics to Necrophiliac by Slayer..it's pretty gruesome stuff, I mean it kicks ass, but I just started thinking about this whole issue.

But then, people say it's "filling young kids minds with images of death and demonic doings" etc....oh well.

I'm too much of a worry wart. I'd make a crappy rock star :D

    EDIT - AH HA!

I figured it out. Music is a form of entertainment. Just like a movie. If you see a movie about Satan, doesn't mean you worship him. But according to society, if you listen to songs about Satan, you worship him.

And there are scenes in movies that repeat "die die" or whatever..so I guess it's ok for songs to do that too.

I think they should say whatever they want...unless it's like "On March the 12th! YEAH YEAH YEAH! We're Gonna Bomb The U.S Capitol YEAH YEAH YEAH! *guitar solo*"

    ...sounds like a Britney Spears song:confused: :p

anyways...I think the people who auctlly kill themselves,or kill people because of lyrics doesnt deserve to be on this planet anyways;)

I think Music helps one from not hurting...because they "releive" there anger and frustration when they listen to there favorite CD...

I also don't like when the people blame a certain band,or type of music for the crimes commited, like Columbine...the boys listened to Marylin Manson...and they blamed it on him...

    *sigh*

Yeah, I mean that's just lame. If they banned "heavy metal" or something, that'd be our first step to communism.

While I agree that blaming Manson for the Columbine murders was ridiculous, I'd like to add that Klebold and harris didnt like MM at all, they actually disliked him. They listened to bands like KMFDM but those bands werent recognized by most americans so the media picked something they thought was similar for a scapegoat. I have a text file of MM's speech about this. I think its pretty insightful, but I dont know if I should post it because it might be too political.

yeah, they also listened to alot of Ramstein it goes along with that German thing, and haha isn't ironic that we are talking about MM and KMFDM and after Twiggy(bass player) left to go to A perfect circle, that the guy from KMFDM now plays bass for Manson haha. Ryan Berry, you whould pm that text file to me! I could like to read that, if you wouldnt mind.
    thanks
    peace

I had no idea Twiggy was going to do APC, that should be interesting. Check your inbox in about a minute.

I am reminded of what Pete Townsend once said "If a person goes out and kill himself just because some sh** head with a guitar told them to than there sh** heads themself and would of done it anyway"

  16. That's not communism, that's stupidity.

  17. People blame music because it's easier than blaming themselves.

It's these songs that make me want to kill myself and the people who wrote them.
Thing is, if you sing lyrics like "kill yourself" or "kill people" or whatever, you're an idiot.
If you listen to these lyrics and do as they say, you're an even bigger idiot and don't deserve to be on the planet.
I believe we're reaching a point in our evolution where Darwin's theory of Survival of the fittest doesn't apply to us anymore.
