Do High Tension Strings require a more exacting setup?

I was posting in a recent thread about Roto77's and my experience with them. Bad on my SX P, great on a vintage Ibanez P, especially w/r/t playability.

This had me wondering if lower tension strings tend to mask the feel of anything like a nut that is too high. My SX plays fine with various 105 nickel and steel rounds, but felt stiff with the flats.

There are tons of variables, to be sure-- I was wondering if the strings somehow got broken in more during the switch....
  2. I find them a bit easier to dial in with, once they settle in.
