I just got a MIM P-bass and the sound is alright. Its a P-bass sound, but its not cutting it for me. I'd like something fatter and that will but through more. I play with a pick and like my mids like I like my ice cream....scooped. So I'm wandering which would be better for achieving the sound I'm looking for: a fatter, rounder P-bass sound that cuts like butter. I've narrowed the options down to Basslines QPB-3 pickup or a Raven Labs PBR-1 preamp. What would you advise?
  2. As I have more than one bass, I would go for the pre, as I can use it with all my instruments. I would go for the pre anyway as it is more flexible sound wise than a new pickup, but whatever is within your financial reach.

Or you could try a new set of strings...
