After nearly 30 years of music, I have never seen anything like this.... I'll start with the drummer. This guy shows up for rehearsal an hour early EVERY TIME! Gives some lame excuse about how he doesn't want to waste our rehearsal time waiting for him to load in and set up. And he pulls the same crap at gigs but shows up even earlier. To top it all off, because he is always early and all set up by the time we get there, he has the nerve to come outside and help us with OUR gear. Then there is the guitar player.... We do classic rock, particularly the 80's hair band kind... He spends all his spare time working on his Helix to custom tailor patches that sound almost IDENTICAL to the real thing. Then if he so much plays a wrong note, he has the nerve to apologize for it. Then Mr. Bossy pant's decides he's going to make up the set list and organize all the tunes by tuning to make it easier on me because I don;t have 5 basses to switch between. Oh and the singer.... Don't get me started on him... He owns the practice space and doesn't make us pay a darn thing for it. Then he takes the liberty of providing the board, the sound, and lights. And if I have a suggestion on how to adjust the board for better gain structuring, or balancing, or customize monitor mixes, he allows me to do it. And Mr' Hot-Shot keeps his fridge full of beer. To top it all off, we have our first show in about 5 months coming up next week. And we only had 2 dress rehearsals running through the entire set list. We worked on every song and polished them all up. The guitar player put together a spreadsheet with the set list, organized by play order, and put little notes in there for each song around the tuning, queues for the singer, bpm's for the drummer, and notes about how we are kicking off and ending the songs. All of this work ethic and the extreme lack of substance dependency has me thinking that this is just not normal.......
My only criticism is the addition of the apostrophe in bossypants: No, it's not normal, but enjoy it while it lasts!
Qow. Good luck with all that. Sounds like a disaster just waiting to happen. Post again after you wake up please!
Run as fast as you can, but before you do that, can you send me a PM with the band leader's phone number please.
I wouldn't take that -- develop a cocaine habit and take up residence in an abandoned hotel in Florida just to show them.
I think I know what happened. One day you met a Genie and didn't know it. You wished for all this stuff and ran out of wishes BEFORE you got to the wish for $100 million. You still did pretty good though. Congrats on your good fortune!
That sounds like Stepford Wives. This llama needs drama. Better lock your cases, wouldn't want anyone changing the strings too soon.
