Hey guys. I've been researching this one for quite some time and the search function has not been too helpful. Probably because my knowledge of these things are so low I don't even know what to put in the search engine. I want to get two distinct sounds. Totally separate from each other. Think Hysteria by Muse. I'm pondering a ton of sounds I could make with it but in that song there is a distinct synth sound and a distinct OD sound. Like one is on top of the other. I know the expensive way to do it would be a splitter where one output goes to a synth and into an amp and the other one would go into an OD and that would go into a second amp. But I'm looking to use only one amp. So...that's not a looper is it? A looper would be more blended than I want.....right? So an active splitter into a mixer? I'm so lost.
Dual Parallel Looper. The key word is PARALLEL. Boss LS-2, Badger Schism, Wounded Paw makes about 19 different blenders (maybe 3 or 4), and SFX Sound makes one. Maybe others as well, but those round out my off the top of my head knowledge. This bass line was recorded in one take with a dual parallel looper; a BMS in one loop - and a HOG, English Muff'n and Zoom G2.1u in the other. SoundClick artist: Mess With Texas - A couple of basses, a drum machine, a mic and a bunch of effects. What more could you ask for?
Search function sucks yo. Those Schism's look awesome and versatile. Parallel Loops rule. I didn't realize a Hog was being used... Interesting!!
The Schism is exactly what I was looking at. I just didn't know how much it separated the sounds. Wow, Cheap. Sweet playing. SWEEEEEET playing. That's all are you using there? You get loads of sound out of that. Really awesome, man. I think that's exactly what I was looking for. The search function is perfect when you know what you're looking for. When you're just straight up confused.....eh...Ha.
LS-2 for me, does a really solid job for not much $$, but definitely interested in trying others when I can be bothered saving. I find using Google is better, just type talkbass at the end
Thanks for the kind words all. Yes, that's all I was using. I had that HOG for 3 years before I started to feel like I was scraping the bottom of the barrel of what it could do. Amazing piece of gear. I kind of miss it .
HA. Well thanks, man. I've been staring at the Schism for a LOOOOOONG time but I found one on TGP for cheap an hour ago and pulled the trigger.
Nice! You will be happy with it I'm sure. I was using an FEA 2CH Mixer for a while (another amazingly high quality mixer), but I was splitting my signal into 2 separate channels, which meant either one was on, or both were on. With the Schism, you can have both, one or neither, and simply run your signal clean. I have my Submarine Designer (pre amp) after the Schism, so that if I want to shut off all my effects and go clean, I can still have my tone shaper engaged. Congrats Sousa! Now settle in for many hours of finding just the right combination of blending for your tone. And of course, which effects go into which channel?...
