im thinking about replacing the pots in my squier vm jazz. would this affect the tone/sound in any way? i really like the sound of the bass by itself but i'd like the pots not to be crackly.

As long as you keep the pot values the same, it shouldn't affect the tone. Swapping 250Ks for 500Ks is a different story.

    what happens then?

  4. you'll get a darker tone with less high end headroom. for me the biggest factor is durability you can buy a 7 dollar pot or a 1.50 pot but the cheap one with be noisy (probably) and not hold up very long.

if you go from 250k to 500k it's gonna be the opposite!
