I was just thinking about this the other day. I rarely see him mentioned when favorite actors are being talked about, so i was wondering do you guys rate him as an actor, and if not, why?
totally! he can do tensely divided in "Do the Right Thing", to smarmy, yet vulnerable in "Quiz Show". i guess people just take him for granted, due to his mostly character actor status. and with that huge noise and glaring eyes, he isnt exactly the studly, pretty boy like most other popular actors out there.
Did you guys see him as "The Jesus" in The Big Lebowski?! That was brilliant! I also enjoyed him in Barton Fink and all the other Coen brothers movies that he's been in. Yeah, Turturro has been in some stinkers but he's had some great moments too. I think he's a good actor. For those who say he's not, please give us some examples of his bad acting. brad cook
IMO, he's one of the most diverse talents out there; he's played a facist Nazi-sympathizer, an oppressed Jew, numerous comedic roles where he's the best thing in the movie, all sorts of stuff. Plus he's really tall.
I could believe it, if i only saw him in two Adam Sandler flicks.. And even then he was the best part about it.
he was great in the big lebowski, and Box of Moonlight (anyone else see that? it's one of my favoprites.)
"i coulda been a contender!" "STELLA!!!!" "hello my honey, hello my baby, hello my ragtime dollllllll..." eh? eh????
I'm sure it'll get some groans, but I loved JT in "Monday Night Mayhem" where he played Howard Cosell.
He is a great actor in my book. Versatile is not the word for this guy. Look at all the movies he was in; I didn't realize this myself. http://www.imdb.com/Name?Turturro, John Barton Fink is a very whacked out movie, but, good. I liked Mac too. Mike
