Just had a conversation with a guy who has a butler. Note that i said "butler" and not "butt-ler"--you pervs. Kato wasn't really the Green Hornet's butler...more like a driver. Alfred was Batman's butler (and father figure). But I think it would take some getting used to. I think it would be strange to have a fellow in your house who'd tune your bass and get you your breakfast...."Sir, the Rob Allen 5 is tuned and ready on the veranda. Will you be taking the usual gin and tonic?" A hot nanny or sexy maid. Now I can see that pretty easy (but the wife wouldn't go for it, especially the nanny since we dont have kids). My housekeeper really doesnt count since she comes when Im at work and is pretty scary. So anybody have live in domestic help?
Sure. Me. I'm the butler, the cook, the driver, the clothes-washer, the dish-washer, the diaper-changer, the kid-bather, the tear-dryer, the nightmare-stopper, the teacher, the referee, the enforcer, the punisher, the tickler, the piggy-back-ride-giver, the messenger, the tutor...just a dad.
I am not in the income level you normally associate with butlers, but I have tried to hire my brother in law several times at a decent rate. I guess he found it demeaning, but my wife and I don't have a lot of time for some things and can afford to pay him more than he currently makes. I gave up about a year ago.
Hah! I'm the Master of My... (whoops!!!) http://[malware url removed].net/ill-violated-dead-smiley-9436.gif
What is the going rate and what is normally included? Example: is it expected that you will be provided a place to stay?
I wouldn't be able to abide by it. My privacy is very important to me, I only leave people in my apartment alone (without me) if I trust them very, very much. The only two people that have stayed here when I wasn't are my girlfriend (of almost 10 months) and a close friend of 4+ years.
I fired mine for sneaking my booze and cigars. I have a guy that does my landscaping. That's all I need. A butler would drive me crazy. I have two teenagers that are "somewhat" helpful
Does a factotum count? Kato may have been the Green Hornet's driver, but he also worked for the Pink Panther. (Maybe for Red Grange and Blue Mitchell, too.) And he had his own institute.
Technically he worked for Inspector Clouseau, not the Pink Panther, although the way he regularly attacked the Inspector it's an easy mistake to make. And he was living in OJ's house at the time of the murder.
+1. I get defensive enough when people ask to see my phone and then start going through my texts and stuff. I don't understand butlers... PAYING someone to violate your privacy!?
