Do you have string grooves in your pickups?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by Meyekul, Aug 8, 2005.

  1. I was noticing my pickups on my BC Rich the other day.. there are some fairly deep grooves in the pickups from where the strings scrape against them. I just bought a new Schecter a few days ago and I noticed it is starting to develop these grooves too. I'd post a pic, but I'm lazy, and I don't think it takes too much imagination to know what I'm talking about. Do I have the pups set too close to the strings or am I playing too hard, or is this normal?

You have your pickups too high. Your strings shouldn't be touching and causing grooves.
  3. talk about low action... j/k

yeah, you need to lower your pickups.
  4. I suspected that, but the Schecter is supposedly "Set up to play by Schecter USA" so why would they set the pickup height wrong? I'll try dropping them later and hopefully it wont affect my tone much.
