Or do you keep them in certain areas with gates?

My dog is well trained and has full run of the house. He has never damaged anything or done his business in the house. I completely trust him.

  4. Our dog has a habit of dumping in the basement if we let him go there when we're out of the house. We do gate off the basement. Not a problem anywhere else.

My dog (german shepherd) goes pretty much anywhere, but tends to stick around where they are people. She's not allowed on beds, however. At the moment she's recovering from surgery, so she's bedridden until next Tuesday.

Evidently you trust him well enough to pilot you around.

  11. During the day, anywhere in the house and grounds. He is, however, only allowed on selected specific furniture which he understands. At night he is gated in the kitchen and breakfast rooms.

He is totally house trained and I have no concerns with him roaming and/or causing damage.

Haha! When he lays like that my wife says that he is advertising
  18. My dog and cat go everywhere in the house. I've had to put things up out of the way that I don't want torn up, like carpet covered cabs from cats claws, and I put my instruments back in cases when I'm not playing.

Codydog is self-crating. We leave, or one of us leaves, and he goes to his crate before we're out of the garage. He has free run of the house but is usually in his crate or one other spot.

About a month after I moved in, mom rather vehemently said something about us NOT going down the path of dog on the bed. Three days later, I took a very nice photo of the two of them snuggled up. Hmm.
